Before starting this topic let me tell you that I am not in the top adsense earners or the so called ‘premium publishers’, but i do have a decent income from Google adsense program. Its very simple to earn good money from this program. Your 15 year old kids are earning 2000$ monthly from it, so why could not you.
Its a myth that to you got to know all the technical stuff and should be a programming guru to earn off that much from Google adsense. Its totally unrealistic, but all the premium publisher or at least most of them are general site owners with basic or amateur knowledge of technology. This is the real thing.
So you must be wondering what separates them from us, why do earn so huge amount of money while we just sit wondering what should be done to get to that point.
From my point of view, i would suggest the following golden 7 steps to ensure such fat income :
1. To start off, Google Adsense business should be treated as importantly as other businesses. Its totally unethical to call it as residual income. If you consider it as residual then you should not expect big cheques from it.
2. Secondly, track you improvements, changes in ad positioning, what’s working and what’s not. From today, track all the changes you do and their impacts, its the basic common mistake that we make, not tracking the changes we make. This helps in analyzing few things which works for us and which do not. Repeat the things next time you go about making a new site and stay away from the things which did not work this time. It helps in avoiding mistakes we make again and again.
3. The main thing these premium publishers do is take up some broad niche and then divide them into sub niches, each having its individual sites. For e.g., Sports, Cricket, Indian Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, Fan sites. They use specific automated site building tools to make up their instant niche sites. This automated tools are their main secret weapons of mass earnings.
4. Once you have exhausted making the ‘n’ no. of niche sites from the same niche, provide back links, links from each niche site to other one, and from each page to related page in other sites.
5. Now, designing your site requires one main point to be covered, make it very easy to browse as well as simple on the looks. Remember your main aim is to have click through on adsense rather then distracting your viewer to other things. Here the mantra is to ‘Tell’ not ‘Sell’ like any e-commerce site which will have emphasis on its product and will guide the viewer to their products. So make an informative site with enough content which will have adsense related matter.
6. Now comes the main part, the exposure of your sites, its easy and should be a gradual but steady process, make links from other related to yours, provide interlinking to your various related sites, make sitemap of each site and submit it to Google, submit your sites to various directories like Index rated Web Directory & SEO Care Directory. This should provide you steady and good traffic. In 2-4 months, you would be having enough traffic to have good amount of click-through.
7. After doing the tough part, you got to have patience on your part. Nobody and i mean nobody can earn 100$ on 1 day itself, wait for few months and you would be on your way to premium publisher. If you still want to earn more, repeat these steps with different niche and double your earnings.
This way, has been tried and tested by my friend and i have posted this article after interviewing him. His earnings averaged 10k $/month in past 6 months. Now that must be good enough for you, probably

Recently, a new concept called ‘Light Bulk Wholesale’ has emerged with the increasing popularity of online retail stores. This concept was formed by WorldWideBrands, Inc, and refers to working with ‘real wholesalers who agree to sell small bulk quantities of products to home-based internet business owners.’
Before exploring the concept of ‘Light Bulk Wholesale’, it’s better if you have an understanding of the ecommerce industry and how this concept of ‘Light Bulk Wholesale’ came about.
Several years back, it is the goal of many people to start online retail stores, since the entire process is automatic and ‘hands-free.’ The startup costs are also much lower than a real ‘brick-and-mortar’ store, thus online stores are very economical alternatives for the small business owner.
With such a huge number of entrepreneurs aspiring to start online stores, the demand for wholesalers of all products has increased as well. The recent and emergent concept of ‘drop shipping’ removes the need for home-based internet business owners to ship products to customers on their own, satisfying the needs of many online business owners.
However, even though drop shippers offer competitive wholesale prices, the prices that drop shippers offer are still slightly higher than that of other wholesalers or manufacturers. This is due to the fact that drop shippers have to charge an additional handling fee to account for the labor of delivering the products.
Most large and established wholesalers, on the other hand, are not willing to work with small, home-based internet businesses. This is due to the fact that small business owners do not place huge transactions with them each time, like thousands of dollars of products. Large wholesalers do not consider it worth their time to process such small transactions, since their profitability is proportional to the volume of sales – the higher the sales, the greater their profitability. Small business owners thus have a difficult time establishing business relationships with these large wholesalers.
The concept of ‘Light Bulk Wholesale’ from WorldWideBrands, Inc solves this problem elegantly. Since ‘Light Bulk Wholesalers’ can sell products in smaller quantities each time to the online retailer, there is no need for huge upfront capital investments. Most ‘Light Bulk Wholesalers’ can accept $500 or lower minimum orders while still charging the retailer competitive wholesale prices.
If you’re planning to start an online retail business, apart from drop shippers, you may also want to consider using ‘Light Bulk Wholesalers.’ You do not need to make huge upfront capital investments for stocks of goods, similar to drop shipping. This helps to decrease your risk in the business because the investment you can potentially lose is much lower.
Let’s understand the concept of ‘Light Bulk Wholesale’ in greater detail here.
The process of establishing a business relationship with the wholesaler is pretty much similar to other wholesalers. You can either give them a phone call and meet face-to-face to discuss issues like pricing points and billing, or you can communicate with the wholesaler through email if it is based in a different country from where you live.
After negotiating the issues like pricing and billing, and starting an account with the ‘Light Bulk Wholesaler’, you can start purchasing small quantities of products from the wholesaler, usually less than $500 in value.
The wholesaler will ship to you several cases of products that you can store in your own home. After soliciting product images and descriptions from the wholesaler, you can then proceed to design your ecommerce website, complete with shopping cart, product catalogue, and also credit-card-processing functions.
The rest of the process is the same as in any ecommerce store – customers place orders at your website, and you package and deliver the products to the customer yourself. The profitability of your business depends on your internet marketing skills – how well you can drive targeted traffic to your website, and how well you can convert them into paying customers.
To conclude, ‘Light Bulk Wholesale’ is a very viable concept for the small business owner aspiring to start an online store. Although drop shipping also has its advantages, like no need for shipping and delivery, ‘Light Bulk Wholesalers’ can offer slightly more competitive prices. Thus, you need to determine whether working with drop shippers or ‘Light Bulk Wholesalers’ is more profitable for your business.

There are a number of different forms of chi sao, but they all share some common characteristics.
They are always two person exercises.
The arms always start in contact at striking range
They aim to the develop sensitivity to the opponents movements and energy, use of correct position, and ability to find a gap in an opponents defences, and the appropriate use of trapping skills.
The six stages of Chi Sau training are:
Dan Chi Sao (single sticking hands)
Poon Sao (double sticking hands)
Jeung Sao (changing hands)
Dok Sao (analytical hands)
Gor Sao (free applications)
Chi Sao Lye Bye Muk (blindfolded chi sao)
By looking at each of these stages in more detail we can gain a better understanding of the methods and aims of Chi Sao training.
Dan Chi Sao (single sticking hands)
Praticed in the Wing Chun training stance Using one hand the two practitioners alternate between striking and defending cycling through some of the basic hand techniques of the wing chun system. Practitioners try not to get into a predictable rythm and will both vary the speed of the drill randomly to ensure that they are maintaining an acute awareness of their partners movement.
Poon Sao (double sticking hands)
This is the second stage in Chi Sao training and is the only only stage where the movement is in a fixed and predictable sequence. Both arms are in contact as the two practitioners alternate between basic wing chun defensive positions ensuring that the centreline is defended at all times.
Jeung Sao (changing hands)
The practitioners learn to move from the outside to the inside of their opponents arms and back. Because they are particularly vulnerable to attack during these transitions they need to move quickly and maintain the optimal structure for their arm position.
Dok Sao (analytical hands)
Starting from poon sao the practitioners roll slowly seeking gaps in their partners defeence, as they find those gaps they push forward very slowly giving time for their partner to adjust to a better position. There are no set patterns and the exercise is an opportunity for practitioners to start experimenting with the basic positions and techniques that they’ve learned.
Gor Sao (free applications)
At full speed and starting from poon sau the practitioners aim to find gaps in their partners defences and deliver light taps to indicate where and how they could land a hit, and the same time they have to ensure that the same doesn’t happen to themselves. Defence, trapping and striking skills can all be tested against a resisting opponent. It is essential that Chi Sao is done in a relaxed and non-aggressive manner for the student to get the optimum benefit in terms of training. Practitioners of wing chun talk about “playing” chi sau to emphasis the fact that it is to be done in a relaxed manner and frame of mind, that you would any game of skill.
Chi Sao Lye Bye Muk (blindfolded chi sau)
As you’d probably guess this builds on gor sau, adding the extra element of blindfolds to enhance the development of using contact to guage the position and defences of the other player.
Although chis sau unique to wing chun, similar principles are used in other systems, notably “Pushing Hands” in Tai Chi and “hubud-lobud” in Kali. Wing Chun Chi Sao has also been incorporated into Jeet Kune Do as one of the core training techniques.

Have been to your sites and seen the little “DONATE” button. Are you cyber-begging?
You see, many of you shun the entrepreneurial types. They must be after money, and either you won’t give it to them, or you have to, because they have something you want…, and you may not even like them.
By the same token, you enslave yourselves to Google’s adsense, making your blog overcrowded with other people’s calls for your visitors bucks, whether qualified or not, and giving them an immediate exit from your contents in order to WHAT? To become part of Google’s FedEx club (Paychecks of $10,000 delivered to the door).
So there, you install that little “Donate” button on your own site, wait and hope… for MONEY; isn’t that what you are doing?
Two days ago, I have been accused of having a fake blog, being called a splogger by ‘fellows’ from the WP forum (podz Support Maven; mikep Member), who preferred to call me names rather than answering a help request of mine “Why my images do not show on the links in WP, with URLs qualified”. However, my blog supplies any visitor with carefully chosen and sometimes priceless information. If I get a commission, I eat, and then I can continue researching on behalf of any blogger’s time and money savings, investing my valuable time; something you won’t have to do.
In the process, I have also helped the visitor who did otherwise not know about the software, the innovator who thought it out and has to be remunerated for it, and the payment processor, affiliate system provider providing the bandwidth. In short, my action was a 4-fold benefit, apart from the fact that it brought a DIRECT result for my activity.
Did your source (maker, creator) give you your brain to hope and wait, or to have an idea that compels your site visitors to hand over their buck right now? Are you in charge of who’s right and who’s wrong, or supposed to be a fellow human?
I find that many people with active online presence are extremely judgmental, policing others. They seem to be unaware that EVERYTHING one thinks, says, or does backfires on oneself like knocking ones own head with a hammer. Will they, someday, get it that one cannot hurt another, for what’s supposedly ‘wrong’ with the other is a REFLECTION of God’s (your inner) image?
So, they keep smashing the mirror, and for some reason, the person, or cause of reflecting what bothers doesn’t go away…
All this has been answered by a strong, silent type, a man of few words, Jesus The Christ. He did not tell us to sit, wait and hope, but to be profitable, take oil in the lamp, ask, seek and knock – most importantly NOT to judge. He is not a weird eccentric in cloak and sandals, but the only being on earth with a 100% applied understanding of wisdom, and His instructions are SCIENTIFIC & exacting.
Regardless of whether you believe in wisdom (oil), or just remain ignorant of its practicality, entrepreneurship is when one desperately looks for answers until they are found, and NOT to sit on a “Throne” in the self-imposed spiritual basement.
I have also been to the How-to corporation’s forum, and found that the forum monitor ridicules his visitors… Good business?
My point is, if you want money, do something creative to get it. That’s ‘knocking’. BTW, money is a symbol for flow, or bottleneck in the mind.
Spiritual entrepreneurship differs from all else by having the best of humanity at heart and never deviating from it by listening to the ‘majority’, or through ‘democracy’ (same thing). Spiritual truth is based upon Theocracy, the authority of the highest, most abstract idea, put into practice and superseding everything else.
Only those, who ‘see & do’ (understand spiritual law & principle and enact it) can be great in the kingdom… What’s the kingdom? Find…

If you have wondered what exactly the new and improved Ron Artest is like, consider his latest move: posing on the December version of Penthouse Forum. Most athletes could pretty much get away with this (if it were Derek Jeter, his Q-rating would go up). Artest has a very troubled past and should’ve avoided the cover shoot if he had any sense. But Ron Artest and logic don’t go together that well.
Ron Artest has truly the most unique personality in the NBA, mainly because more than anything, I just get a sense of ignorance from him. Listening to him speak after he ran into the Pistons’ stands genuinely makes me think he doesn’t know better. Some might remember that only a couple days before the Palace incident Artest was suspended a game for asking the year off to promote his upcoming rap album (which tanked tremendously by the way). When Carlisle himself called Artest ignorant, Ron said something along the lines of, “what does that mean?” It’s funny; not knowing what ignorant means is like not ever hearing the word esoteric.
In his 10+ months away from the game, Artest has no doubt avoided the therapy and treatment we all think he needs for photo shoots and whatever else he does in his free time. For his sake, I hope he has improved his antics; the NBA has by far the harshest penalties of any league, and Artest could easily be the prototype for happens to a player beyond a 1-year suspension.
Artest is like Sprewell, Fortson and Rodman rolled into a tight package. Ron Artest is the best Small Forward in the NBA when he’s either healthy or able, but fans won’t be quick to like him again after he spoiled Reggie Miller’s last season. The spotlight hasn’t been good for Artest, and this year’s will be bigger than ever before. If there’s one person who deserves a dress code, it’s Artest, who needs a big a perception boost in the eye of the public. Had his album come out before the brawl, it might’ve at least ranked higher than 13,000th on Amazon.com. Maybe the denial of money will persuade him, if nothing else.

“People on this night are going to be on several different
levels. No doubt we are on the lowest level, so we are hoping in
this night to attain the honor and illumination granted in it.
When we reach a higher level and as it is a holy night in the
heavens as well, we will begin to sense something [of the great
power being manifested] on this night. Whoever is at the highest
spiritual level must be present for this night in the Divine
Presence of the Lord.”

“Sources in the defense establishment believe tomorrow will be
the day on which the Palestinians will ask to disconnect Arafat
from life support and announce his death. Tomorrow night marks
Lailat al-Kader, the night Muslims believe God revealed the
Koran to the prophet Mohammed. The death of the Palestinian
leader on that day will, therefore, be symbolic.”
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/498629.html
“The bill specifically forbids Arafat from being buried anywhere
in Israel. “Because of his disease,” the bill reads, “the State
of Israel allowed Arafat to leave for the sake of medical
treatment. This bill requests a ban on his return to Israel or
to the Palestinian Authority areas, whether to stay or to pass
through. The bill also wishes to prevent his burial in these
areas, lest the site turn into a pilgrimage attraction, a
symbol, and a source of inspiration for the war against Israel’s
existence.”" Arutz-7 news: Tuesday Nov 9, 2004
“”We chose Ramallah because it is close to Jerusalem, where we
are hoping to bury him in the near future,” said Hassan
Khraisheh, deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council
and member of a special committee entrusted with overlooking the
funeral arrangements. Palestinians said that after Arafat would
be buried there, a mosque and monument would be built inside the
compound.”

“Sha’ath said there is no talk of removing Arafat from life

Waiting till the Night of Power to pull the plug on Arafat’s
life support would have effectively placed him on the “highest
spiritual level” quoted above, and therefore, “in the divine
presence of” allah. However, as the PA officals didn’t remove
his life support, even his burial in Ramallah, complete with a
mosque and monument to boot, will do one of two things in the
minds and hearts of Muslims worldwide who revered Arafat in this
life.
1) Arafat will be elevated to prophet status, and his teachings,
sayings, decrees, etc, spread throughout the Islamic world, and
be followed even more devoutly than in his lifetime. Thus
ensuring PA leadership, that their goals to wipe out the Jews
and Christians wherever they may be found, will be carried out
in even greater numbers, dedication, and determination than in
the past.
In this situation, pulling the plug on Lailat al-Kader would
have been a ploy to ensure that policies, goals, ideology, and
commitment to Arafat’s cause is further entrenched and carried
out. Such a ploy would have taken advantage of Muslim thought
and desire on this day, and basically forcing what many call
“the new Islam” down everyone’s throat, as refusal to honor a
prophet brings harsh discipline.
Burial complete with mosque and monument will very likely do the
same thing in the minds of the moslem people, as not only will
they come to mourn, but also come to worship.
2) Arafat will receive the burial fitting for a prophet, and
many will come merely to mourn his passing, but no elevation to
prophet status will occur.
This is less likely to happen, as in order to have his death be
symbolic on the night of Lailat al-Kader, moslems would have to
admit that Arafat was spoken to by allah himself, and that his
death is a sign that his words are to be whole-heartedly honored
and obeyed.
It’s bad enough that the IDF is bracing for riots and increased
violence in PA-controlled areas following the news of Arafat’s
death. But to have millions of moslems suddenly claim Arafat as
a prophet will make matters worse for Jews, and Christians
around the world. It’s already bad enough that a BBC reporter
cried over his release to a Paris hospital. The added sympathy,
honor, mourning, and allegiance to his teachings will only
congeal supporters world-wide as well.
I see therefore, a potential polarization of East versus West,
of People of the Book versus Islam in the coming days. Saudi
Arabia is already treating the war in Iraq as a holy war.
PA-bred terrorists are already in Iraq killing Americans and
other national groups the same way they’ve been killing Jews in
Israel for years.
Arafat is not another Louie
Riel(http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.com/index.cfm?PgNm=TCE&Pa
rams=J1ARTJ0006837), to be decried, then enshrined, then
decried, then a statue built, repeatedly going from hero to
villain and back again. Arafat, plain and simple, is a villain
on a massive scale. He will be a hero to the strain of Islam he
revived and its sympathizers, and a villain to those who don’t
adhere or sympathize with his ways and teachings.
I say be watchful in coming days. Whether intended by the PA
leadership or not, Islam may have just turned a corner. Jews and
Christians beware.

Think back to the last really great novel or mystery yarn you read. Back to one that really impressed you. One that so grabbed your attention, you are looking forward to the next book by the same author. If you don’t read much, think of a film that jolted you.
How Much Impact Can A Great Story Have?
While such experiences matter a great deal to those who enjoy stories, they don’t matter much in the longer scheme of things.
How often do you think of that terrific book or film? The characters in it? A happening reported within it?
For most, the answer is, “Not often.” And then only fleetingly. You may think of it briefly in relationship to something you encounter today. Something you read or hear. A thought or two may come to you while having your morning coffee. But it does not happen often. Once a week? Twice? Maybe only once a month?
Why? Because you have a life to live and are busy getting it done. That book or film, no matter how great, is but one part of it. And it has no meaning at all when faced with serious challenges, as when your job performance is in question.
What Impact Do You Have On Your Subscribers?
The short answer is, “Not much.” Can you expect to have the impact of a great novel or film on the readers of your newsletter or website? Not likely.
If this is so, how often do you think your readers will think of you? Or your site? The answer here is easy: Not often, and only fleetingly.
So Why Bother Doing All That Work?
I get flyers from a True Value hardware store in town. I never look at them, but in a glance I remember Larry, the owner, and Bill, his second in command, who have been so helpful to me over the years, and stand ready to assist me again.
That’s the most you can hope from your newsletter. That folks will remember you and your site. And that you remain willing to help.
How Many Subscribers Read Your Newsletter?
Not nearly as many as some webmasters believe. Here’s my read on this. There’s no data I’m aware of to back me up. It’s all just guesstimating. Based upon experience, that’s so. But certainly not to be taken as fact.
Somthing over half your subscribers delete your newsletter in every mailing without even opening it.
You Can’t Be Serious?
You bet I am. I’m also being realistic. As stated, people have a life to live. “STAT News” has little to do with this fundamental task. If you believe your ezine is different in this regard, that subscribers cling to every word in every issue, you’re dead wrong.
And There’s More Bad News
Of those who do open my ezine, maybe half scan quickly to the bottom, find nothing of interest, then trash it. Of the rest, only a few will read from beginning to end. Some, but not many, may read an article, or part of one, before trashing it.
What A Dreary Picture
Maybe. But I don’t see it this way. It’s real. The way it is. People have lives to live. And my ezine doesn’t matter much in making that happen.
Face it. People don’t read all of a newspaper they buy. Books are often laid aside only half finished. And the TV is often shut down in the middle of a worthwhile program, when something that matters more demands attention. Do you really think your ezine is exempt from such decisions? Get real.
Putting It Into Perspective.
I’m content that those who delete “STAT News” without opening it, at least have positive thoughts about me or my site. At least sufficiently positive they choose to remain subscribers. They’ll turn back to reading the newsletter as time permits, provided they need the information in it. And they’ll return to my site if they find they need the products and services available.
The same holds for those who quickly scan for something of interest. Or pause to read part of an article. They’ll come back to reading when they need to. Meanwhile, I’ve demonstrated good free information is available. And again, reminded them of products and services I offer.
Personally, I’m delighted to continue to be invited by my subscribers to visit each week. And I’m excited when they find something helpful to them. Further I look forward to a time when I can help more specifically, with a product or service.
It has never occurred to me to ask for more. If you do so, your expectations are unrealistically high.

The history of chocolate doesn’t mention the delicious confectionery’s source until the ancient Mayan and Aztec cultures came upon and recognized the value of the cacao plant. Chocolate makers used the products of the plant for currency and units of calculation. The first cocoa plantations were said to have been in northern South America where the Mayans migrated in about 600 AD.
Christopher Columbus reportedly brought the valuable beans back to King Ferdinand after his fourth visit to the New World. These beans and their value were overlooked at the time in the shadow of numerous other treasures Columbus had found.
The first notable recognition of chocolate was when Spanish explorer Hernando Cortez attended the court of Emperor Montezuma of Mexico. Cortez brought the treasured chocolate back to the royal court of King Charles the Fifth. The King had Monks that were hidden away in Spanish monasteries process the cocoa beans and was able to keep chocolate a secret for almost a century. This created a profitable industry for Spain who then proceeded to plant cocoa trees in its overseas colonies.
Finally, an Italian traveler by the name of Antonio Carletti came upon the valuable chocolate and introduced it to other parts of Europe. The first chocolate house was reported to have been opened in 1657 in London by a Frenchman. Chocolate was considered to be a beverage strictly for the upper class and was priced accordingly.
Chocolate didn’t make its way to the United States until 1765 when it was introduced by Irish chocolate-maker John Hanan who imported cocoa beans from the West Indies into Massachusetts, and refined them with the help of an American Dr. James Baker. Together they set up America’s first chocolate mill and by 1780 were making the now famous Baker’s ® chocolate.
The Dutch came up with the cocoa press which simplified the process of making chocolate and lowered the price making it more accessible to everyone. Not long after Joseph Fry and Son made a discovery by adding back in some of the cocoa butter removed in processing as well as sugar. They were left with a paste that could be molded and voila, the chocolate bar was born. That was in 1859. From there chocolate production just got tastier, better and became one of the most popular gifts for any occasion. (see: http://www.a1-food-gifts.com/gourmet-chocolate.htm )

Texas is very precise on the guidelines of family law when it comes to child support. Most statues for child support place consideration on the income of the obligated parents capping it at $6,000 a month. Based on the amount of income, the number of children and the situation of the divorce, the parent is obligated to pay a minimum of 20% of their net resources to the parent with the possession of the child. In addition, the child must have health care and the payor must also provide this if it’s not available through their employer. These obligations must be paid until the child turns 18 years old, or graduates from high school.
If either party wants to adjust their obligation to this child support, they must petition the court for a reexamination of the situation and provide proof of the changes to the circumstances. This process of dealing with the courts can be long and confusing without the proper legal help. In addition this process is also taxing both emotionally and financially while not always providing the desired outcome. In this situation it is in one’s best interest to be consulted by an experienced family lawyer. An experienced family lawyer will significantly increase the chances of the decision going in your favor.
Your child is worth it.

Business etiquette is essentially about building relationships with colleagues, clients or customers. In the business world, it is these people that can influence your success or failure. Etiquette, and in particular business etiquette, is simply a means of maximising your business potential by presenting yourself favourably.
Business meetings are one arena in which poor etiquette can have negative effects. By improving your business meeting etiquette you automatically improve your chances of success. Comfort, trust, attentiveness and clear communication are examples of the positive results of demonstrating good etiquette.
The article will focus on a few key examples of business meeting etiquette for both formal and informal business meetings. Although these are meant as guides to etiquette in the UK they are very much applicable to other nations too.
Informal Meetings
Informal meetings are generally more relaxed affairs and may not necessarily take place in the office or meeting room. Even so a sense of professionalism and good business etiquette are still required.
There are 7 points to consider with informal meetings:
•Business etiquette demands that the person calling the meeting (henceforth ‘the chair’) should be the most senior or the one with the most direct or urgent interest in the topic at hand.
•The chair should decide the time, place and agenda. These details should be confirmed with everyone to make sure all are in agreement and no inconvenience is caused.
•The chair must make the purpose of the meeting clear to the attendees, how long it will last and what is expected of them, i.e. particular information or preparation of documents. Failing to relay the proper information is bad business etiquette as it could cause embarrassment.
•Punctuality is a must. Keeping people waiting is considered the height of poor etiquette as it abuses their time.
•The chair should strive to ensure the meeting stays within a set framework or agenda so that it is kept as short and effective as possible. He/she must keep circular disagreements and the like to a minimum.
•The chair should (pre-)appoint someone to record the proceedings; documenting major decisions or action points. This can later be distributed to the attendees for reference.
•If the results of the meeting have an effect on others who were not present it is considered proper business etiquette to inform them.
Formal Meetings
The business etiquette of formal meetings such as departmental meetings, management meetings, board meetings, negotiations and the like can be puzzling. Such meetings usually have a set format. For example, the chair may always be the same person, minutes, agendas or reports may be pre-distributed or voting may take place.
Here are 10 business etiquette guidelines that are applicable to any formal meeting:
•Prepare well for the meeting as your contribution may be integral to the proceedings. If you are using statistics, reports or any other information make sure it has been handed out at least three days prior to the meeting.
•Dress well and arrive in good time. Your professionalism is linked to both.
•Always remember to switch of a mobile phone.
•If there is an established seating pattern, accept it. If you are unsure, ask.
•Acknowledge any introductions or opening remarks with a brief recognition of the chair and other participants.
•When discussions are under way it is good business etiquette to allow more senior figures to contribute first.
•Never interrupt anyone - even if you disagree strongly. Note what has been said and return to it later with the chair’s permission.
•When speaking, be brief and ensure what you say is relevant.
•Always address the chair unless it is clear that others are not doing so.
•It is a serious breach of business etiquette to divulge information to others about a meeting. What has been discussed should be considered as confidential.
The underlying principles of the all the above business meeting etiquette pointers are good manners, courtesy and consideration. If these principles are adhered to the chances of offense and misunderstandings are greatly reduced.
