Our lives, personal and business are made up of a series of
goals. We want to be successful, happy, earn a good living, have
a family and so on. But how do we achieve these goals?
Hopefully, in our personal life, we meet the right person to
help us make our personal goals happen. For some of us, this
happens right away and for some it may take a lot of years. When
it does happen, all of your personal goals can become reality.
Our business goals on the other hand, may take more work to make
them happen.
When you are deciding on your business goals, one thing you can
do is divide your one main goal into several smaller goals that
will make your main goal seem more attainable. Instead of your
goal being to make a million dollars a year, you can divide this
into yearly, monthly, weekly and also daily goals.
For example: If you are an ezine publisher and your goal is
100,000 subscribers, your first year goal could be set at 1000.
You make your goals into attainable steps and follow those steps
to success. You will accomplish more and not be so easily
discouraged by working your business this way.
When you first decide you want to start your own business, what
you should do is write down your plan for your business and also
what you want your main goal to be. Put all this in an outline.
Then you decide on smaller monthly, weekly and yearly goals to
work for in order to achieve your main goal.
Another good idea is to organize each day by what you want to
achieve for that day. Organize your time each day into blocks
and write down what is to get done in each time block. Example:
6:00-7:00 Breakfast and kids to school. 7:00-8:00am Read and
answer all emails. 8:00-10:00am Domestic Chores 10:00-12:00am
Promotion & Site Maintenance 12:00-1:00 Lunch Break 1:00- 2:00
Answer Emails 2:00-4:00 Work on Ebook and/or Website 4:00-6:00
Cook & Eat Supper & Do Dishes 6:00-8:00 Work on ezine &
articles. 8:00-10:00 Break 10:00-11:00 Answer Emails
You can also put down in more detail what has to be done in each
time block.
This is a typical day of mine, however all of our schedules are
different. You have to organize your daily goals to best fit
your schedule. This can help you get more work done and be less
overwhelmed. I used to start my day knowing I had to do this and
that and then some more and I wouldn’t know where to start and I
just felt lost. Writing down and scheduling my daily goals has
really helped me get more work done.
You should also write down your weekly and monthly goals in the
same manner. Check on these periodically to see if you are doing
what needs to be done. One word of advice, use these as a guide
and do not beat yourself up if you do not make them exactly as
you have written. Some goals may take a little longer to attain
than what you think. Organization is the key to getting more
work done and feeling more in control of your goals.

Let’s assume that you would like to begin saving for your children’s education fund. At the end of each year, for the next 8 years, you will contribute $2,000 into a Coverdell Education Savings Account (Education IRA), using your after-tax dollars. The money grows tax-free, and neither the contribution nor the interest is taxed when you make a withdrawal, as long as you use it for education purposes.
By the end of 17 years, your Education IRA will have accumulated to just over $86,000. Contrast this with your fully taxable non-IRA account which would have grown to only $50,000. That is a $36,000 difference!
Today, the average 4-year cost of education at a public college in the country is around $38,000. In 18 years it is projected to be close to $86,000. Costs for private education are even higher.
This example illustrates that, by funding your child’s education using an Education IRA earning 14% with after-tax contributions of $2,000 in each of the first 8 years of your child’s life, you can put an extra $36,000 into your child’s future rather than Uncle Sam’s pocket!
There would be enough in the IRA account to pay for the entire projected 4-year education costs.
Now, when your child begins their college education, as you draw from the account each year to pay for expenses, and re-invest the remaining funds, at the end of your child’s 4th year of college, an extra $27,000 would remain in the IRA that can be transferred to another child’s account.
If you have a fully taxable Non-IRA account, you’d have to come out of pocket in your child’s 3rd year of college because the account didn’t have enough to cover the entire education cost.
By using a Tax-Free Education IRA account, this allows the contributions to accumulate at a much fast rate than the fully taxable investment vehicle.

While it’s still quite a few months before the NFL Draft, with the regular season winding down, it’s a good time as any to take a glance at the teams who are “competing’ for the league’s worst record and the right to draft the lone “can’t miss” college player, USC running back/receiver/kick return specialist Reggie Bush.
If you weren’t convinced of this kid’s potential at the beginning of the college football year, after watching him blow by defenses in 2004, after watching his last two games against Fresno State and UCLA, you have to be convinced now, right??
Current favorite: The Houston Texans
They’ll be a few changes here, especially in the coaching department, as Dom Capers and his staff will either be shown the door at the end of the season, or sooner. David Carr was supposed to develop into the franchise QB by now, but we really don’t know how good he is because of the lack of talent around him. The Texans management still believe he has potential, so they won’t be drafting his replacement in 2006.
Bush would give the team at least a watch-able player, something they don’t have at the moment. Not sure about you, but Domanick Davis doesn’t exactly get the juices flowing.
The San Francisco 49ers
This may be the best scenario for the the San Diego native, since the hometown Chargers won’t pick til late in the 1st round. Also, he and last year’s #1 pick Alex Smith were teammates at Helix High. near San Diego.
The 49ers were once a proud organization, and with a underrated coach like Mike Nolan at the helm, all he needs are a few difference-makers, which Bush definitely is. Interesting enough, the Niners face the Texans in week 17, possibly with the USC star as the prize for the loser.
I knew Direct TV offered Sunday Ticket for some reason.
New York Jets
With the team having so much uncertainty about thir current quarterback situation, namely the health of Chad Pennington, Matt Leinart may be the more helpful choice. The Jets still have Curtis Martin in the backfield, and he can still run despite his age by evidenced by his rushing title in 2004.
And with Eli Manning starring for the cross-town Giants, the Jets would also love to have a marquee signal-caller. But could they really pass on Bush??
Green Bay Packers
Brett Favre probably won’t allow the Pack to finish with the league’s worst record, especially with the Lions and Ravens remaining on the schedule. Who even knows yet if he’ll be back next year, as it’s pretty much assured that head coach Mike Sherman is a goner.
And the team certainly won’t draft another QB, since Aaron Rodgers is the future, I guess? If Favre returns for another year or two, he may never see the field.
The health of Ahman Green is also an issue, so Bush would be the perfect fit for GB. He’d also give Favre a dump-off guy, so hopefully he won’t continue to throw into coverage. But old habits are hard to break, especially 14 year old habits.

If you are a new diver you’ll want to make sure that your scuba diving vacation destination offers beginner courses. The hotspot should offer classes that allow you to learn to dive in open water with no decompression. You’ll also want to check out the prices of the classes and any additional fees for renting scuba diving gear. Check the vacation spot’s website or call for more information. You will probably need to get a form filled out by a doctor in order to take the classes. The form simple confirms that you are capable and fit enough to scuba dive.
When planning your perfect scuba diving vacation you’ll want to determine how you are going to be able to reach the location. Some spots can only be reached by plane or boat. If this is the case with your destination you’ll want to check out the prices and fees for admission. Obviously, you will need to find some suitable lodging. Some of the vacation spots offer lodging at expensive prices. If you would rather find a cheaper motel elsewhere you should plan reservations ahead of time. During certain times of the year it will be difficult to find available lodging.

It is just part of parenting teens to feel shut out and worthless as a parent, right? This is not the case. Most children (remember, teens are still kids) need a firm parental hand on their shoulder. While most of the time they will make good decisions based on what you have taught them through the years, other times they will struggle endlessly with peer pressure. The first thing that you need to do as a parent is to take a step back and then make your move.
Take A Step Back
Parenting teens is no easy task. The first thing that you need to do, no matter how angry you are, is to take a small step back and realize what is really happening with your teen. To do this, you need to realize what they are facing. They are facing peer pressure, constant rejection from friends and are usually struggling with their self image. They are under a lot of stress and do not need you to add to it.
Make Your Move
No matter what you see when you take your step back; you need to react to it. If you are thinking that you do not need to worry about your child because they will make the right choices, you are welcoming their pain. Instead, you need to pull them aside when they are having trouble and talk to them in a frank yet understanding way. For example, if you suspect that your child is doing drugs, sit down with them, tell them what you think is happening and offer to help them to get them back on track. No accusations, no pressure, just you being a parent.
Realize that all children make mistakes, even teens. The mistakes teens make are just bigger and more life threatening than those that toddlers make. Yet, parenting teens means being a parent to them. Realize what is happening to your child. Realize what you need to do about it. Forgive them for making the mistake and help them to get out of it. You will need to do this type of parenting for as long as you have teens.

Everyone of us, in reality, has two people inside: Te person we
are today and the person we can become tomorrow and in the
future. We go to work every day, are never late or absent, earn
a promotion; and receive occasional raises. We and our work are
far above satisfactory. That makes us the person who is well
liked by our employer, our family, and ourselves.
But there is also another person in us. It is the person who,
when properly motivated and exposed to the encouraging
information, can narrow the gap that exists between his habitual
performance patterns and his maximum potential.
The development of people, whether directed by someone else or
by us ourselves, is a never-ending process. To the productive
and well-managed company, this is as important as its
advertising.
The development of staff is a really enormous area for
additional profit that will mutually affect the employer and his
employees. The development of people does not, by any stretch of
the imagination, involve exploitation or manipulation of human
beings. They, themselves, benefit as much or more than does the
employer.
By exposing them to the information that develops them as
persons, we help them reach into their deep reservoirs of
ability and bring more of it to the surface. Consequently, they
have more spontaneous skills and abilities to bring to the
table, whether that “table” is at work, at home, at church, or
school.
To motivate human beings is not to force-feed them. They are at
all times free to reject or ignore that to which they are
exposed. But they don’t; they come back for more.
We cannot motivate others; that’s something can have to do by
themselves. However, we can set the motivational climate and
they’ll respond, not because they have to, but because they want
to.
Now, wouldn’t you rather have a well-oiled, highly motivated
individual functioning at his (or her) maximum potential on your
team?
Remember: When you maximize your potential, everyone
wins. When you don’t, we all lose.

Getting your start in web writing is not a difficult process. The first step is getting together samples of your work. If you have published samples, then get them out. You also can write your own samples that have not been published. You just have to be honest with potential clients if they ask.
Next you should find a place to begin submitting your work. If you are willing to write for low pay - and plenty of writers are when they start out - then you may want to consider signing up for Associated Content. You write an article and submit it. They read it and decline it or make an offer. The process is simple.
Another place you can try is Constant Content. It works a bit differently. You register and submit articles. Someone reads and accepts or rejects them. You set the price you want to charge for the article, and buyers can purchase the article through the site. Although plenty of the articles there are low-paying, a number of articles sell for $100 or more.
Once you have gained one or two credits through these places, try out Rent A Coder. It’s the best place to begin to get a feel for the client side of web writing. You will be able to bid and write up a proposal for various projects. The buyer will select someone and pay Rent A Coder the agreed-upon fee (that you set) for the project. You can communicate with the buyer throughout the entire process, and you will be paid once the work is completed.
While you can continue writing for Associated Content and Rent A Coder, you should begin to search out new jobs before you begin to rely on one source. The first rule of writing is to diversify. If you’re depending on one client or source, then you’re in serious trouble if they disappear. Begin searching free job boards at places like Writer’s Row so that you can start applying for jobs. Streamline the process by writing up a standard introductory letter that you simply tailor to each ad and put together your resume.
People serious about web content writing should have their own website as their eventual goal. As soon as you’ve had five writing projects for websites, it’s time to put together a site. You can include your rates or ask people to email you with project details. Include your bio and links to your work. Also include any special experience or areas of expertise that you have.
By following this simple plan, you will be positioning yourself to begin to make a living as a web writer.
You’re free to reprint this article, but you must include it in its entirety. My byline and the following bio (with active links) must be included.

I am always railing on and on about why people should buy businesses worth at least a million dollars or more. That are big, with lots of cash flow and with a management team already in place who know what they are doing — so you can just sort of step in and let things go “as is” and not have to think about it.
However, besides all the financial reasons, there is another — very powerful — reason to only go after large businesses like this. A reason almost nobody ever talks about and yet, is probably a more important reason than any other.
And that reason is, quite simply, people who own large businesses, that have good numbers, and that can prove their business is what it is, are almost always straight-shooters and not crooks.
It’s true. I have been doing this for over 50 years and I can tell you right now, the chance of you running into a person that has a business making a million a year that doesn’t have a good word or isn’t a good person…is almost zero percent. There may be exceptions to this, but I have never, in all these years, run into one that wasn’t a man of his word and didn’t genuinely want the deal to go down fairly, squarely and exactly as we agreed to.
Does this mean they are all going to be your best friend?
No. In fact, I have run into one that I haven’t gotten along with. But at this level, where there’s a lot of money at stake, they’re basically all nice people. They’re easy to get along with. And keep in mind, one of the main reasons they are so nice and friendly is because they know you have cash. When you pay cash (using investor financing) you do all the talking. You’re the one who is really in control, and they know it.
