Have you given up on getting your book out of your heart into
the hands of your readers? Don’t give up. There’s an easy way to
do anything and a more difficult way. The easy way usually
includes getting helpful advice from someone that’s been there
and done that. The author has written five of those ten books
that were stuck in her heart a few years ago. Here’s eight steps
that will speed you on your way to getting your book out now:
1. Setup a regular writing schedule. Think about your
priorities right now. Can you fit 7-10 hours a week in? If you
have to let something go that is not high on your priority list,
do it. Now is your time. Later is not better. Set yourself up
for a successfully written book this year by committing to a
regular schedule. After it’s done, remember to reward yourself.
2. Plan a short book first. Many aspiring writers overwhelm
themselves with goals of a 365 page book first. Shorten your
book to 25-90 pages the first time or divide your large book
into a smaller book one and two. Though you shorten it, still
fill it with useful information by using the question and answer
format for each chapter. Using the same format and length for
each chapter and answering all your readers’ questions will not
only speed your writing process but it will result in a
successful book.
3. Let your passion lead you to a topic. Passion will not only
stir your readers when your book is done but it will keep you
motivated to do the work involved. Yes, I did say work. Passion
will make your work easy. Passion will lead you to develop all
the profit centers (seminars, articles, or consulting services)
your message deserves.
4. Choose what’s interesting to you. If you are interested in
what you are writing about you will happily write all you know
and research to know more about your subject. You will easily
spice your writing with interesting tid-bits that will delight
your readers and keep them reading until the end of your book.
5. Get to know your reader before you write. Target your
audience and your copy will be focused, interesting and
compelling. As a method of writing personable copy, write and
post (somewhere in your work area) your reader profile including
their sex, their top interest, what they spend money on, what
books they want and read. Your subject must benefit your
audience to capture their interest. After all who wants to pay
for a book that doesn’t help them in any way?
6. Develop a plan for each chapter before you write. Using a
format plan including headlines throughout will organize your
chapters. Organized chapters become easy to write and fill in
the blanks. Additionally, organized chapters are easy to read
and your readers will love it and tell all their friends about
it. Don’t forget to weave the questions and answers that benefit
your audience into your text.
7. Design your book to market well while you write. Incorporate
the top market spots designed to sell more your book is
completed. The hot spots are the title, cover, thesis, audience,
benefits & features, mini sales letter written as introduction
and back cover copy of each book.
8. Select your non-fiction topic first. You may be like the
author wanting to write novels. But start with the profitable
book first, so you can finance your dream efforts. Write a short
book first and satisfy the busy people that want useful
information fast and easy. Remember answering 5 questions about
one chapter topic will create a 5 page chapter.
Get your book out of your heart to paper fast. If you wait you
could be this time next year with the same desire to get your
book out. Use the eight easy steps of committing to a regular
writing schedule, planning a short book first, choosing a
passion-led topic, picking an interesting to-you subject,
getting to know your reader first, developing a plan for each
chapter, designing your book’s top market spots, and choosing
your non-fiction topic first to become a successful author
sooner. The world is waiting for your important message to
answer their questions and help them become successful.

Getting your start in web writing is not a difficult process. The first step is getting together samples of your work. If you have published samples, then get them out. You also can write your own samples that have not been published. You just have to be honest with potential clients if they ask.
Next you should find a place to begin submitting your work. If you are willing to write for low pay - and plenty of writers are when they start out - then you may want to consider signing up for Associated Content. You write an article and submit it. They read it and decline it or make an offer. The process is simple.
Another place you can try is Constant Content. It works a bit differently. You register and submit articles. Someone reads and accepts or rejects them. You set the price you want to charge for the article, and buyers can purchase the article through the site. Although plenty of the articles there are low-paying, a number of articles sell for $100 or more.
Once you have gained one or two credits through these places, try out Rent A Coder. It’s the best place to begin to get a feel for the client side of web writing. You will be able to bid and write up a proposal for various projects. The buyer will select someone and pay Rent A Coder the agreed-upon fee (that you set) for the project. You can communicate with the buyer throughout the entire process, and you will be paid once the work is completed.
While you can continue writing for Associated Content and Rent A Coder, you should begin to search out new jobs before you begin to rely on one source. The first rule of writing is to diversify. If you’re depending on one client or source, then you’re in serious trouble if they disappear. Begin searching free job boards at places like Writer’s Row so that you can start applying for jobs. Streamline the process by writing up a standard introductory letter that you simply tailor to each ad and put together your resume.
People serious about web content writing should have their own website as their eventual goal. As soon as you’ve had five writing projects for websites, it’s time to put together a site. You can include your rates or ask people to email you with project details. Include your bio and links to your work. Also include any special experience or areas of expertise that you have.
By following this simple plan, you will be positioning yourself to begin to make a living as a web writer.
You’re free to reprint this article, but you must include it in its entirety. My byline and the following bio (with active links) must be included.

SERVICE EDITORS=GET MORE WORK=MAKE MORE MONEY
By David Geer
When editors consider you a bonified service, they’ll use you
more. The more work, the more money. How do you become a service
to editors? With rare exception, contact them only for the
following four reasons. These were the reasons behind contacts
where editors most often felt I was serving them, judging by
their reactions and the continued work.
1) Targeted Queries - Instead of sending tons of queries that
have that seemingly justifiable 60/40 chance of being on target,
take time to give them that 90% guarantee, through careful
research and preparation.
A) Know the publication. It works. You might still hit the
target without reading the publication. Might doesn’t pay the
bills and it doesn’t serve your editor when might turns into
probably not. B) Research their archives to make sure they
haven’t covered the topic.
C) Research the topic to make sure it hasn’t been done to death
or at least not done the way you want to do it.
D) Follow the publication’s writer guidelines thoroughly.
E) Queries must include all the elements the editor requires
(see guidelines). Where they aren’t specific about that, read up
on great queries. My best source of great query writing tips is
from “Magazine Writing That Sells” By Don McKinney (Writers
Digest, 1994).
2) Great Submissions Ahead of Deadline- Once you’ve written the
query that is better than the article will probably be (that’s
the one that gets the work and no, I’m not kidding), then you
have to turn around and write the article better than the query
was, while adhering to what you both agreed to. You’ve got the
assignment; research and write it well. Edit and proof it three
times yourself. Go over it with the writer guidelines you
promised to adhere to. Compare it to the best articles in the
magazine itself. Finish up to a week in advance or more when
possible and submit ahead of schedule.
3) Quick Responses to Requests for Rewrites and Fact Checking-
When an editor asks you to rewrite, know what they need and get
it done immediately, likewise with fact checking. You be sure so
they can be sure. Them counting on you is the sell here. Know
how soon they want it back and deliver it before then if humanly
possible.
4) Praising and Promoting Them and Their Publications-If you get
the opportunity to write about media, include your editors and
their publications in the story where possible. Offer to link to
their sites from yours. Thank them for the work they give you.
Let them know they are appreciated.
These four things save the editor time, take up their time only
with things that are a service to them, and associate your name
with adjectives like “helpful”, “useful”, “available”,
“reliable” and “handy”.
What else can you do?
5) Find out when they’re on deadline themselves so you can
consider waiting until they get a break before you send your
next query.
6) Earn a great reputation with each editor individually so you
can do so with all editors as a group.
7) Realize that editors are busy people. Some editors may hope
that you will (quite logically) come to the conclusion that
their lack of response to one query means they aren’t interested
and perhaps it’s time to send the next one. You’ll be remembered
fondly as the one writer among many who didn’t require a
response except when the answer was yes.
Become a name writer. Add value to their publication by being
an expert, an authority, or just someone who is published a lot
or who does great work - or all of the above!
Now how do you manage #8? Do everything #’s 1-7. In so doing,
you’ll not only save your editors a lot of time but yourself as
well. Great queries that are rejected by one publication can
easily be tweaked for another. Bad queries just plain won’t be
good anywhere. You have saved yourself time by doing the work
right the first time.
Great work ahead of schedule means you can move more quickly to
the next several assignments or queries, getting more work
published in the same amount of time. Being fast, and good, and
prolific, which is what all this will make you, will certainly
lead to becoming somewhat of a name writer as well, as will the
other steps as well.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you will greatly improve your article. The Internet has an overabundance of disregarded content that was written in the same rambling way that the author normally speaks in. Many of these articles would never have been neglected by the general public had the author simply looked for these common mistakes prior to publishing.
Number One: Poor Title
The title, or headline, must grab the reader’s attention and reel him or her into the story. It should not be extremely long. The title can be fun and does not necessarily need to be a verbatim description of the article. Sometimes a title is best written last. Keep in mind that we are talking about titles for articles and not books. This is an important distinction because longer titles and sub titles that might be appropriate for books will not work for articles.
Bad Title: Website Promotion Ideas: 8 Simple But Effective Tips To Get People To Visit Your Web Site Again And Again
Why? This long and clumsy title does not work for an article. The title has unneeded words and does not take the intended audience into consideration. The theme was correct and the title could be salvaged by properly rewriting it.
Better Title: 4 Major Mistakes to Avoid when Writing an Article
Why? This title is short, informs the reader what the article is about, and is worded to walk the reader into the article. It is properly targeted for the intended audience.
Number Two: Poor Opening
The opening paragraph, especially the introductory line, must be strong and present the topic. The title should flow nicely into the opening paragraph. If the title is “Saving Money at the General Store” and the article leads with “I really don’t understand why more stores don’t supply coupons”it is time to rewrite. In this example, the reader will become confused quickly. It is important to maintain a logical flow.
Additionally, never write the following:
- In this article, I will show… (Just show it)
- This article will cover… (Articles do not need a table of contents or an outline)
- By the end of this article… (Don’t talk to your readers like they are in grade schoolunless the audience really is in grade school)
Number Three: Poor Flow
Poor flow destroys writing in general. Many writers would benefit from creating an outline and rearranging their writing based on it. Writing that does not follow logical flow is completely doomed. Many article authors seem to simply write in the same order as thoughts occur in and then call the job complete. Meanwhile, the writing is a complete mess and a potentially great article remains nothing more than amateur fodder.
This mistake can be avoided by printing out the work, reading it over, and labeling the main theme for each sentence. In the “poor opening” example, the introductory sentence belonged later on in the articleperhaps the conclusion. Reading the article draft aloud is a professional technique for discovering sentence structure errors.
Number Four: Poor Conclusion
It is poor form to label your conclusion as such in an article. There is no need to type the word “Conclusion” or state “In conclusion”. A conclusion should not be a summary of what was already written. It must include fresh writing, illustrate the main point of the article, and bring the article to a logical closing. Moreover, it can’t leave the reader with the sense of incompletion. An ideal conclusion will drive the point home and give the reader the satisfaction of having read the article. The closing of the article must be communicated well or the reader will come away unsatisfiedeven if the article was great up until that point.
Writing great articles takes practice and adhering to some basic principles. To eliminate poorly written articles, share them with your friends and family. Write down their questions and comments as they read your article. With newfound information in hand, proceed to rewrite your work. Never be afraid to delete and rearrangeevery writer must do this. In the end, your readers will thank you by continuing to read your improved work.

Adsense is a program designed by Google to help publishers monetize their websites using high contextually-accurate ads. Adwords is the other side of the coin which allows any person to create an account with Google and bid on keywords or key phrases to have their ads appear in either the search results ad placements, or in content sites that display Adsense ads.
Over the past few months I’ve identified a group of authors, writers, and publishers that I call: “Adsense Authors.”
My definition of an Adsense Author: Any author that uses article marketing as a strategy to drive traffic to their website in order to drive their adsense ad revenue sales.
These “Adsense Authors” really understand how to fully leverage article marketing as a strategy like no other group of authors.
Here are the commonly shared traits of these authors:
- Their articles are short, between 200-600 words.
- The quantity of articles they produce are typically from 25-300; around a tightly focused niche topic.
- The TITLE of their articles are very keyword rich: the first two, three, or four words are the most important in rank. You won’t find these authors wasting the first 4 words of their title with non-keyword-rich words (such as “a” “how to” “top” “the” “of” etc).
- The BODY of their articles has high keyword density for the terms they are targeting.
- The KEYWORDS they use when submitting their articles are intelligently selected based on the overture or other keyword research tools; they are not haphazardly selected.
- They do not load up and bloat the guts of the BODY of their articles with links back to their sites; they know this slows down the acceptance of their articles for reprint by other publishers.
- Their articles are fun, fast, and easy to read. Often they will use bullets, numbered lists, and quick sub-heads to make the article easy to visually digest.
- Lastly, their RESOURCE BOX is brief with only one or two links in them: one link to their full website URL, and one anchored text link to a keyword of importance to their niche. They know that big, ego driven resource boxes slow down the viral nature of article marketing strategy.
Conclusion on Adsense Authoring
Adsense Authors have discovered the secrets behind fully unlocking the power of article marketing to drive enormous storms of organic traffic to their websites. They accomplish this with dozens to hundreds of tightly-focused niche articles, all reflecting high keyword value and research intelligence.
You won’t find any 3,000+ word articles or ego driven article content from an Adsense Author. They have only one purpose in mind: To drive massive amounts of traffic to their Adsense-based business model using article marketing as a key strategy.
Even if your goal in life has nothing to do with Adsense, you can definitely learn from today’s Adsense Authors on how to take Article Marketing to the next level of possibilities.

Article marketing is still one of the best ways to to promote your web site or business. A good article can generate many hundreds or even thousands of links to your web site and these links are one way inbound links that currently are ranked by the search engines as one of the important factors the search engines use in their …shock horror…algorithms. The geeks spend hours and days planning strategies and software to optimise web sites so they are search engine friendly.
Well we aren’t all computer geeks. So for us mere mortals we have to use the tools that we can manage.
And we all can write an article. If you don’t know where to start and don’t think you can put the right words on paper, go find an article that reflects your ideas and re-write the article in your own language. This way you cover all the important points but you will create an article that is unique to you. And this counts out there on the net……unique content.
Start with a short article and copy and paste it into your word processor. Split it up into paragraphs and under each paragraph write your own version in your own style…worts and all.
Do this for each paragraph and at the end delete all the paragraphs that you are copying and …Hey presto… you have created your own unique article.
And guess what…..you will find other people are interested to read your interpretation of the information. It might be more casual, or at least the language is less formal but this will appeal to many people. You will be surprised.
Many of the articles floating around the web today are generated by software designed specifically for articles and they all appear to be done to a formula (CANNED) and in my opinion are rather boring and stilted.
Don’t be afraid to express yourself as though you are telling a mate a story or your version of some software or topic or whatever.
Do start with a topic that you are familiar with because you will then be able to add small personal details on the topic. Also try to include an article that relates to the keywords on your website….but more on that in my next article.Much more interesting than canned articles.
It is the small personal details that will make your article standout in the crowd.
That’s all for now…. Good luck with your first article and don’t forget to publish your article… How to do this? Just go to Google and type the following into the search bar “where to publish articles” and you will find hundreds of article publishing sites and lots of helpful hints.
Create… Enjoy… And reap the benefits!
